Three formats, three different prices

A match lends funds you must play through. A rebate returns a share of losses already taken. A race pays for outranking other people. Only the first two can be costed in advance, which is why the third gets a method rather than a verdict.

Races are free to enter and advertise a fixed pool. What they do not advertise is the field, and a place is worth the pool divided by the number chasing it. That division cannot be done, so the decision has to be made another way.

Start with the score at the last paid place, not the leader's. The distance to that figure, divided by the time left, is the turnover the race is asking for. Anything above what you were going to stake anyway is the entry fee, charged at the house edge of whatever you play.
